Akoha

It's not really a surprise when after attending a TED Conference you would fill inspired to do something great. When Founder Austin Hill and Alex Eberts, long-time friends and entrepreneurs. attended one in Monterey where the theme was “Ideas Big Enough to Change the World”, and the Sundance Film Festival where some of their friends were discussing movies that could make a difference, the two began a series of conversations about the future of online entertainment. These discussions about the power of online communities and the changing nature of play were the spark that led to Akoha.

Akoha is vaguely described as a new type of multiplayer online/offline social game what that really means is anyones guess. Over on Techcrunch, Jason Kincaid, it mentions will mix user-generated content with casual gaming elements, both online and in the real world (think geo-tagged photos taken on a cell phone).

Sounds really interesting. My only hopes is that it is not some type of MMRPG like Dungeons and Dragons or Warcraft, where people can go online create missions, give rewards, and put hits on real people.

Then again, that sounds pretty cool too. Hmmmm...
